Civic Genius (formerly Common Ground Solutions), Voice of the People, and the University of Maryland’s Program for Public Consultation (non-profit, non-partisan organizations) are hosting our next Citizen Panel event on February 29th in Berkeley Heights.
Here’s how it works. We’ve asked people across NJ-7 to take a unique online survey called a policymaking simulation. The simulation presents facts and carefully balanced arguments for and against different policy choices. Past simulations in other districts have focused on topics like the federal budget and immigration. This survey relates to government reform — including campaign finance reform and redistricting.
Anyone who takes the online policy simulation can register for the Citizen Panel event scheduled for Saturday, February 29th in Berkeley Heights.
Attendance is free, but only open to residents of NJ-7, 18+, who have taken the survey: http://publicconsultation.org/CGS
Here’s what to expect:
1. When you take the policy simulation, remember it’s longer than most surveys. Be sure to give yourself about thirty minutes to complete it. Also, please be ready to enter your nine-digit ZIP Code (this can be found on most pieces of mail). After completing the survey, you can express interest in the event. You’ll receive a call from someone on our team to get you registered. Remember, it’s free, but you have to take the survey.
2. The event will be held on Saturday, February 29th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Berkeley Heights.
3. Along with Representative Malinowski, you’ll be the first to hear the survey data revealed and learn how people in NJ-7 think about important topics like campaign financing and redistricting.
4. The event will close with a frank and civil discussion about government reform with your neighbors and Representative Malinowski. You can also meet the founders of the non-partisan, non-profit organizations sponsoring the Citizen Panel initiative, Civic Genius, and Voice of the People. Our media sponsor, PBS 39, will also be on site filming the event.
We hope you will join us in this effort!
